The Dunes at Pismo Beach

Mark Yandow calls me back and says "Oh yeah they even have hummer rides." Hummer rides,  big deal.  Well,  we had scheduled to be all day Monday in Pismo so what the heck. Besides, Stacie had it as a possible agenda filler.  Our Concierge at the Dolpin Bay Inn set up a three O'Clock "Ride".  Earlier in the day we lounged at the pool and jacuzzi had cocktails then got dressed to go. We were all very hungry so we picked up a quick lunch and headed off to meet our Hummer driver. Larry was waiting for us at  the destination parking lot. Larry drove us down to the beach where he proceeded to explain to us the merrits of Pismo and more or less being a tour guide.  He explained the beach streatches six miles north to south. He let us know now that the long holiday was coming to an end,  there were fewer people around.  Trailers, Trucks and trailers, ATV's  etc......... all heading for home.  I imagine Daytona beach is somewhat like Pismo.  Very nice I thought.  Asix mile down the beach and back up.  Look at all the sights and there you have it.  A nice day had by all in our Hum-V ride.  About ten minutes into the drive,  Larry stopped to let Kolbey use the restroom and then said "Are you ready?"  Ready?  But.....................I thought we were in the middle of this thing.  OH MY LANTA!  Larry stepped on the gas turned left and off we went.  30.40.50 miles an hour sliding through the Dunes at Pismo Beach.  Forward, backward ,sideways. This is so not me.  My wife and kids sitting behind me in an open faced 30 year old Hummer.  Flying over dunes.  I heard my kids yelling with elation, fear, excitement. I couldn't hear myself think because I was screaming so loud.

Fifteen minutes of crazy felt like hours. Everywhere I could see there were dunes after dunes.  I think we went over each one of them. Here we were all of a sudden standing on top of the sandy world.

Teeth full of grit smiles on our face and WOW!  What a great ride!  I think  we will do this again soon but not tomorrow.
