We got together, friends, aquaintances, strangers. Not knowing what to expect, yet with the expectation of victory we made the trek. The 2007 Acura Club Corp Team Championship at Pinehurst. I had been to Pinehurst the very first time several years earlier. I was a single man without children. The experience was quite different. Late nights, Yadda.Yadda.Yadda. The team; Larry Stone, Tom Wescott, Ernesto Moreno, Jack Breslin (A last minute and welcomed substitite for Jim Lampkin who had a family emergency). Our faithful Manager Michael Comerate. Our assigned Professional, James Hochrine of Gainey Ranch.
PRACTICE ROUND - COURSE 8
A practice round on course number 8 - still flying one man short.
Off we went. Practice round at hand. Wednesday the eve of what was going to be San Jose greatest victory. The team looked good although we were still one man short with less than 24 hours before kick off. That evening our fearless leader introduced us to Jack Breslin, a charming man, yet still very guarded. It was if what the heck did I just get into. It soon became apparent to us and to Jack that the team was starting to gel. It could have been the booze but I don't think so.
DAY ONE - NUMBER 8 - Score 67
Ready to go full uniform - "Gentlemen - this is not a dress rehearsal!"
Jack and Joann Breslin - A great new partner and his lovely bride.
DAY TWO - NUMBER 2 - Score 66
Our goal of a "Putter Boy" trophy was slipping through our hands.
