FRIDAY - First round

It's not every day  that being a dad is cool. However,  Thanks to the Pac-10 LOC, Tracie Morris and The Bay Area Womens Sports Initiative, (BAWSI), and Marlene Bjornsrud,  at least for this one weekend,  I was really cool. My two oldest daughters were able to be ball girls on Friday night during the round one games.  they acted responsibly and seemed to have a great time.  Our two other kids had play date sleep overs so my wife and I sat on the sidelines enjoying both games and especially enjoying the time outs when our daughters got to mop up the floor. 

SUNDAY - Semi Finals

Sunday was a day to remember.  The Pavillion opened at 12:30.  The line was all the way to the parking lot with families, mostly fathers and daughters.  BAWSI put together an event that hosted pizza and appetizers, refreshments, cotton candy the whole works.  What a spread!  for $5.00 and the price of a game ticket,  we all had the opportunity to listen to, meet and greet four of the greatest athletes of  this generation. 

Ronnie Lott, one of the greatest defensive backs ever to walk the gridiron - Cool Dad as well!

Brandi Chastain - Former SCU soccer star, Gold Medalist Olympian, World Cupper, professional soccer player - and a pretty cool Mother.

Julie Inkster,  San Jose State standout, U.S. Amateur Champion, U.S. Open Champion, LPGA superstar, and really cool Mom. 

Brent Jones, SCU standout,  San Francisco 49er All Pro tight end, and real cool Dad.

What was most cool for me was listening to the four of them confer about their fathers and the impact they had in their lives  with respect to growing up in general and of course their athletic development.  Not that they didn't talk about their mothers as well.  This day was about "Fathers and Daughters" and that's COOL! - Thanks BAWSI !
